• Book Group Discussion Day #1  - Share quotes and questions as well as discuss book themes and observations.  Don't forget to ask questions!
• If you are absent for Discussion Day write a 2 page discussion of your book.  No summary (or very little to get you started).
• Reading time -
• Why metaphors?  How does it influence your brain? Read Your Brain on Fiction

Homework:
​     • Write a full paragraph of reaction to Your Brain on Fiction from The New York Times.  Reference at least two pieces of evidence from the article.  

Tuesday

• 2 Minute Story Telling - Is it your turn today?  
• Ten minutes reading time
• Discuss Every Little Hurricane
     • Do these freewrites - Write these if you were absent!  
          • Who is the main character and what is going on in the story?
          • What is this story really about?  What is its meaning?
          • How does Alexie's structure impact the meaning of the story?
          • Is this story hopeful?  Why or why not?
     • List Metaphors in story - apple, grandmother's kitchen, hurricane . . . 
     • As a table group, look deeply at ONE metaphor and explain how it connects to Alexie, Victor's Identity, life on the reservation, family, community and any other themes you notice.  
     • How does nonlinear structure connect to Alexie's message.
     • Storm as metaphor in Literature - DEVELOP THIS - PPT or Short Video
