The English Department and the Pioneer Literary Arts Awards were created to motivate and recognize Pioneer students for the excellent writing they produce each year.
By rewarding students for their creative and academic writing, it helps students understand that writing is important here at Pioneer!
9th & 10th grade - Division
Best academic essay (argumentative, literary or rhetorical analysis or research/informative)
Best personal essay (autobiographical or narrative).
Best poem
Best short fiction, screenplay, or drama script
Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each category with monetary awards of $75, $50 and $25 respectively.
11th & 12th grade*
Best literary analysis essay
Best personal or narrative essay
Best rhetorical analysis
Best poem
Best short fiction, screenplay, or drama script
Best argumentative essay
Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each category with monetary awards of $75, $50 and $25 respectively
School-wide Awards*:
Best piece of journalism - Text ($100)
Best piece of journalism - Visual ($100)
Best satire ($100)
Deadline for submissions is April 5th at 11:59:59pm!! There is no room for an extension of the deadline.
*All decisions by the judges are final and may include not awarding all prizes in all categories.
*Students can enter multiple times but can win only once.
