The Pioneer Academics Awards Assembly has yet to be announced. If you are new to this event, it's a school-wide assembly where we recognize excellence in academics here at Pioneer. This year's guest speaker is yet to be announced.
The English Dept. awards are to motivate and recognize the students for the excellent writing they produce each year. This helps students understand that writing is important here in high school and beyond.
Pioneer will award recognitions ($75, $50 and $25) in the following categories.
• All decisions by the judges are final and may include not awarding all prizes in all categories.
• Students can enter multiple times, but can win only once in each category.
• Students can win a monetary prize only once. Additional winning entries will receive a certificate only.
(9th & 10th grade)
Best academic essay (argumentative, literary or rhetorical analysis or research/informative)
Best personal essay (autobiographical or narrative).
Best poem
Best short fiction, screenplay, or drama script
Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each category with monetary awards of $75, $50 and $25 respectively.
(11th & 12th grade)
Best literary analysis essay
Best personal or narrative essay
Best rhetorical analysis
Best poem
Best short fiction, screenplay, or drama script
Best argumentative essay

Best piece of journalism - Text ($100)
