Dear Prospective Trailblazer,
Trailblazers is an experiential learning class offered to seniors at Pioneer High School who are interested in learning and practicing the skills necessary to be an effective teacher and mentor. Trailblazers is a combination of instruction from a certified secondary teacher at Pioneer High School and direct experience in an elementary classroom, supervised by the elementary teacher and site supervisor. Students will earn a letter graded (A, B, C, D, or E) based on the assessment of knowledge and mastery of skills specific to the direct experience.
The Trailblazer program is a year-long partnership that is currently with Bach, Lawton, Dicken, Eberwhite, and Pattengill elementary schools. It involves carpooling (the school district DOES NOT provide transportation or liability insurance) to the elementary school each day of the week to work individually with an elementary student. In addition, there will be periodic seminars with your elementary site supervisor and/or Pioneer advisor.
Trailblazers counts as one general elective credit upon successful completion of this course.
If you are interested in becoming a Trailblazer, follow the link above and fill out the form. I'll contact you in early June.
