Please pay particular attention to deadlines and due dates.
Monday
• Hope you enjoyed your last week of summer!
Tuesday
• Choose Seats! - 3x5 cards with numbers.
• World Literature Warm Up - Kahoot Quiz - World Lit. What Do You know?
• 3 things nobody knows about you - write it on 3x5 card
Homework:
Choose a book that is to your ability level and at least 250 pages (I can be flexible on length) that you want to read during Book Group. Book Groups meet once a week for three to four weeks! Details to follow. Bring book to class on Thursday. If you can't get the book, print the cover of the book or send the picture to [email protected] BEFORE midnight Wednesday. The point is that I want you to take some time to choose a book YOU WANT TO READ! Choosing a random book off my shelves before class begins is not ok.
Wednesday
• Things people don't know - In class activity
Introduction to MrPackard.com Here you will find weekly schedules and classroom resources.
• Add MrPackard.com to your home screen - Open Browser, go to MrPackard.com, click on box with arrow upward in navigation bar and choose "Add to Home Screen." That will put a button on your phone to access our class web site directly.
Thursday
Book Pitch day! Please be ready to pitch a book you have never read and that you want to read for class. Books must be to your ability level and at least 250 pages (I can be flexible on length). You must have the actual book or a printout of the cover or have sent a picture before school today. Be prepared to "pitch" your book to your peers. You can read the back cover, but it's better if you know a little more about the book. Be sure to mention if there is sex, violence, coarse language and other triggers if you know. From the list of books generated by the class you will choose your top 3. I will then place you into groups based on your choices. Once you know your book title, please head to the library, book store, or Amazon to get your book. I don't have money to buy books for everyone. However, I can order your books from Amazon for you (I have Amazon Prime and get free shipping) if you can reimburse me.
• Homework: Write My Worldview essay! This essay is due Friday before midnight via the turn in page!
Friday
• My Worldview essay by Midnight Tonight. Please use Turn-In form on MrPackard.com
• Finish Book Groups - Get organized. Order books.
• Introduction to daily story telling - Pass out 3x5 cards, write story ideas on card, turn in to Packard
• Round 1 story topics - Share a time you were excluded from a group. OR . Share a time when you realized that people judge others/you by race, religion, etc. Model by Packard
• Read & annotate Superman and Me by Sherman Alexie (CERA pretest) + Discussion.
